Governor Crist reappoints Yablonski to FWC

Governor Charlie Crist has reappointed Brian S. Yablonski to a second five-year term on the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC).

Yablonski began filling his post on the FWC in January 2004. In 2007, he assumed duties as vice chairman to fill out the unexpired term of the previous vice chairman. His fellow commissioners re-elected him to the vice chairmanship for 2008.

"In his first term, Commissioner Yablonski contributed greatly to the Commission's conservation efforts." FWC Chairman Rodney Barreto said. "We welcome the news of his reappointment by Governor Crist and know he will continue to serve the people of Florida and our fish and wildlife resources very well."

"I am grateful to Governor Crist and humbled by this reappointment," Yablonski said. "Serving as a Commissioner these past 5 years has been an honor. I look forward to the opportunity to help continue the Commission's strong record of conservation and sound management of our natural resources as well as working to connect Floridians, especially our youths, with quality outdoor experiences."

Yablonski’s service on the Commission earned support for his reappointment from several respected conservation organizations. He also served on the 2007-2008 Taxation and Budget Reform Commission where he sponsored the successful Constitutional Amendment 4 to protect Florida’s wildlife habitat.

He is an avid outdoors enthusiast who particularly enjoys backpacking, hiking, hunting and fishing.

Yablonski works as a vice president for the St. Joe Company. He graduated with honors from Wake Forest University and the University of Miami School of Law. He served as deputy chief of staff to the governor and as policy director in the Governor's Office of Policy and Budgeting from 1999-2003.

Yablonski's new term as an FWC commissioner runs through January 2014.
